This is the third knife I am offering for the 2018 season. It is the funnest yet. The hilt is a blend of white tail antler and hand poured pewter. I blended the two because this piece of antler was not only brought back buy the dogs, it was chewed on. So what I did was carve a bit into the chew marks such that when I poured the pommel, the pewter ran into the chew marks. I really liked how it turned out.
The guard on this hand forged bodice knife is copper. I recovered the copper from bits of a an electrical panel that came from a friends farm house. The farm house had burned down. I found the bits of copper while reclaiming brick that I used for an outdoor coal forge.
The blade is hand forged from a 1/4 inch thick chunk of 1075 high carbon steel. Its been forged down and finished to about 3/16ths of an inch. The tang runs the full length of the hilt and can be seen in the pommel. The tang is set into the antler first with an epoxy, but then with the pouring of the pewter in place.
