A hand forged bodice knife of about 4 1/4 inches in length. This was a fun one to put together. Behind the blade is bog oak, then a hardwood (forgot the type) and holding it together is a pewter pommel that was cast in place. The pommel was cast around the tang.
The blade was hand forged from 1/4 inch stock of 1075 high carbon spring steel. It was forged and finished down to about 3/16th of an inch. It has been heated, quenched, and drawn to about 55 on the Rockwell hardness scale. At this hardness, 1075 is resilient like a spring, holds a fair edge, and is still resharpen with traditional methods like wet stones.
